Eco-Etch Concrete Etcher and Cleaner is used to safely acid etch and deep clean concrete and other compatible cementitious surfaces for best practices when applying stains, coatings, paints, and sealers. The deep cleaning concrete cleaner removes efflorescence, light rust, and ground in dirt as it opens up the pores in concrete to enable optimum penetration and bonding. Proper surface preparation adds significant longevity and durability of your decorative finish.
Eco-Etch is the preferred concrete acid etching alternative because deep cleans and etches. It also does not corrode metal, release harmful fumes, or cause dangerous skin burns. Our proprietary formulation uses a mixture of non toxic cleaning surfactants and organic salts made from renewable resources, yet has an acidic pH that is less than 2. It only reacts when in contact with calcium and lime inherent in cement mixtures. Once in contact with the concrete, it will begin to react by visual foaming action. Concrete clean and etch is ideal for cleaning, degreasing and acid etching concrete floors, walls, basements, driveways, swimming pools, patios and containment areas prior to coating, staining or sealing. Safer and easier to use than muriatic acid, it creates a porous surface, and provides the even profile and uniform appearance preferred for clear coating applications. It can also be used to remove efflorescence (alkali salts) and to neutralize new concrete and new mortar joints on cinder block, masonry and brick. Directions for use: Mix 1/3 gal of concentrate with 1 gallon of water in a plastic sprinkling can. 1 gallon of concentrate will produce 4 gallons of premix; sufficient to cover 800 square feet. Hot water will accelerate cleaning and etching. Sweep the surface to remove loose debris and scrape off excess grease and oil. Cleaning a 10 x 10 section at a time, dampen the surface with a fine spray of water and using the sprinkling can, apply the premix evenly over the surface. Scrub the premix into the surface with a stiff bristled broom until the foaming stops. Note: if no foaming occurs, surface has been previously sealed and this will prevent penetration of premix.
