The built-in touchscreen is actually set up as another display monitor for your computer. While the MPC Software is running on your computer, MPC Touch will display the software's touch interface. If the MPC Software is not running, you have the option to either turn the display off entirely, or use it as a desktop extension. Additionally, while running the MPC Software, you can switch between viewing the touch interface or your extended display on the built-in touchscreen by holdingSHIFTand pressingERASEon the MPC Touch.
I tried to install MPC Touch's version of the MPC Software over my previous version and received an error message about RTAS support. Will my MPC Touch work inside Pro Tools?

Over 700 pre-loaded sounds, and an integrated effects engine for Reverb, EQ and Compression put you in full control of your beat production. A microphone input is even included for mixing vocals with your patterns. Brilliant backlit pads provide visual cues for added beat precision. The XR20 features sounds of standard and electronic drums, single (one-shot) hits, bass and synth sounds to easily create your maximum mix in minimal time.

A headphone output lets you stealthily build beats and monitor your work. MIDI in and out let you connect and interface with other MIDI-compliant gear including a keyboard for programming bass lines.
