How did you come up with the idea for this product?
We came up with the idea for WigWag while working in the pro-AV and IT worlds for many years. We saw customers painfully try to implement automation solutions only to get frustrated and rip them out months later because they failed to work. We realized customers experienced these problems because the existing automation solutions were hard to program with closed APIs that only a handful of certified developers could use. The result was an incredibly poor experience for users.
What makes your product special?
WigWag is a completely open-source system for the Internet of Things (IoT) and automation systems. Unlike competitors that have created traditional APIs for developers, WigWag has created a JavaScript runtime for device control and manipulation: deviceJS. This means hundreds of thousands of developers who can develop for the Web can easily understand and program for the IoT! Our highly scalable technology, is designed to grow from one WigWag Relay, to thousands in a single home or deployment. DeviceJS is entirely open source and will be released in Summer 2016.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
Our most exciting moment so far was the delivery of WigWag Relay to the market and running our crowd-sourced campaign.
